1. International Competition for Young Violinists Oskar Rieding is open for young violinists of all nationalities that are 13 years old or younger. The primary goal of the competition is to support young performers on their music journey and at the same time it connects it with the music by a famous violinist and pedagogue Oskar Rieding. The finals will take place in a wonderful hall of Narodni dom in Celje. Oskar Rieding chose this idyllic city for his home after he finished his orchestral career in the Budapest’s opera house and he wrote several important violin pieces there. These pieces still make part of repertoires for young violinists all around the world. It was in Celje where the composer wrote also one of his most performed pieces of the violin pedagogic repertoire – violin concert in H minor op. 35.
This is most definitely one of those concerts which almost every young violinist comes across on the music journey.
Recent researches of the Slovenian Institute of Musicology and Dr. Maruša Zupančič show that all the pieces which were created after the op. 35 the composer created in Celje.
With the new competition we want to connect young violinists and the music by Oskar Rieding and therefore open a new space for their creativity in beautiful Celje.
