Timeline & prizes​

The international competition will take place in two rounds:

First round will take place online on the website of the competition between 20th June and 1th October 2017. During this period the participants can send their video applications on the competition address. After the completion of applications an international jury will meet and grade the videos.

The competitors will be given a gold, silver or bronze award according to their points.

All the participants will receive a certificate for participation at the 1st International Competition for Young Violinists Oskar Rieding. The citations and certificates for participation will be sent to participants by post or by e-mail.

A pedagogue and a piano accompanist will also receive a certificate for participation of a student at a competition.

The Gold Award

is given to the competitors who achieve between 90 and 100 points.

The Silver Award

is given to the competitors who achieve between 80 and 89 points.

The Bronze Award

is given to the competitors who achieve between 70 and 79 points

Second round – FINALE

The gold award winners from all categories will go to the finals.

The finals will take place on 15 October 2017 in the National Hall in Celje, Slovenia; on the same day after the finished final performances there will be the award ceremony.

Solemn proclamation of the final winners of the 1st International Competition for Young Violinists Oskar Rieding will be on 15 October at the National Hall in Celje, Slovenia.

The international competition jury will award in the finals:

I CATEGORY

1st Prize: The Oskar Rieding Prize, Diploma and title of Laureate,
a commemorative gift from the competition, a one-time scholarship worth 150 Euros,
and a concert engagement;

2nd Prize: Diploma and title of Laureate, a commemorative gift from the competition,
and a concert engagement;

3rd Prize: Diploma and title of Laureate, a commemorative gift from the competition,
and a concert engagement;

4th Prize: Diploma, title of Laureate, a commemorative gift from the competition,
and a concert engagement;

5th Prize: Diploma, title of Laureate, a commemorative gift from the competition,
and a concert engagement;

II CATEGORY

1st Prize: The Oskar Rieding Prize, Diploma and title of Laureate,
a commemorative gift from the competition, a one-time scholarship worth 250 Euros,
and a concert engagement;

2nd Prize: Diploma and title of Laureate, a commemorative gift from the competition,
and a concert engagement;

3rd Prize: Diploma and title of Laureate, a commemorative gift from the competition,
and a concert engagement;

4th Prize: Diploma, title of Laureate, a commemorative gift from the competition,
and a concert engagement;

5th Prize: Diploma, title of Laureate, a commemorative gift from the competition,
and a concert engagement;

III CATEGORY

1st Prize: The Oskar Rieding Prize, Diploma and title of Laureate,
a commemorative gift from the competition, a one-time scholarship worth 300 Euros,
and a concert engagement;

2nd Prize: Diploma and title of Laureate, a commemorative gift from the competition,
and a concert engagement;

3rd Prize: Diploma and title of Laureate, a commemorative gift from the competition,
and a concert engagement;

4th Prize: Diploma, title of Laureate, a commemorative gift from the competition,
and a concert engagement;

5th Prize: Diploma, title of Laureate, a commemorative gift from the competition,
and a concert engagement;

The decisions of the jury are final.

The finalists will receive their prize in person at the award ceremony.

Special prizes

  • the prize “Happy Notes” for the youngest finalist
  • the prize for the most outstanding interpretation of the Oskar Rieding work
  • ​the prize from Slovenian Institute of Musicology​
  • the prize for the best stage performance according to the public
  • special prize of the music shop PROMUSICA from Celje
  • special prize from Ruslania online book and music shop: 2 x 50 Eur gift voucher.

Concert engagements

​All​ of the ​finalists ​will be invited to participate at the concerts in 2017/2018 season.

Concert engagements are supported by the Institute of Musicology of the Slovenian Academy of Sciences and Arts, Municipality of the Celje, House of Culture at the Rogaška Slatina​, House of Coulture at the Laško​ and Museum of the Baroque (Šmarje pri Jelšah).

Thus the participants can present themselves also to the wider Slovenian audience.

Videos and promotion of finalists:

  • each ​laureat’s performance will be recorded and videos will be available on the website of competition.
