Pianist, pedagogue and composer Aleksandra Naumovski Potisk is active in many artistic and pedagogical fields. She graduated at the Ljubljana Academy of Music and teaches piano and chamber music at the Vič – Rudnik Music School in Ljubljana. In 1999 she received the prestigious award – the Slovenian Innovative Teacher of the Year for her pedagogic work.

 

The following year her author’s piano teaching book was published. Its name is “The Wonderful World of Sounds”. The same year the piano teaching book (in two parts) was confirmed by the Institute of Education of the Republic of Slovenia as a pedagogic tool for primary music schools education purposes.

Professional work field of prof. Naumovski Potisk extends beyond Slovenia. She was a lector at the European Piano Teacher Association – EPTA 2005 in Manchester (UK), where she successfully led the lecture about the famous Slovenian composer and Prešeren award winner – Alojz Srebotnjak. Aleksandra has also presented his compositions from the children’s collection Scherzzzando.

Pupils prof. Naumovski Potisk are successfully presenting themselves as musicians at the national and international competitions: they won the 1st prize at the National Competition of Young Slovenian Musicians – TEMSIG at the category chamber music and many other prizes.

In 2006 prof. Naumovski Potisk lectured again at the European Piano Teacher Association – EPTA 2006 in Madeira (Portugal), where she presented the pioneers of the Slovenian pianism to the European professional audience this time.

Since 2013 she has worked as a piano accompanist at the University of Ljubljana. She performed over 50 concert a year. As a concert pianist, she also collaborated with the soloists of the Ljubljana Opera (Casta Diva vocal group) and other artists.

 

Aleksandra also devotes herself to the music composing for concert and instructive use.

In March 2017, her first opera for children named “Music House” was premiered at the Slovenian Philharmonic Hall in Ljubljana. In the 2017/2018 season this opera was the most viewed children’s operatic performance in Slovenia.

In November 2017, her second children’s opera “Martin Krpan”, was premiered in Cankar Hall in Ljubljana, which has been played more than 30 time that year.

In November 2018 she wrote music for an original ballet for children- La Fontain’s Fables.

The successful premiere of this new work was at the Cankar Hall in Ljubljana.

Prof. Aleksandra Naumovski Potisk music path include teaching, composing and performing.

The sophisticated and virtuoso side of her work combines perfectly with a pedagogical and artistic approach to teaching students in class. Her pupils can also see their teacher as a great concert pianist who is performing own music for wide audience.
