Kalvin Chau has been performing and coordinating with international musicians as well as local young talents on global platforms.
Chau has performed and recorded in North America and Europe with various ensembles, including the Mainzer Oratorien Orchestra, the Kammerorchester Con Arco and the Bach Ensemble of the Europa Chor Akademie in Germany.
In Hong Kong, he has performed with the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra and the Hong Kong Sinfonietta. As an active violinist, he has recorded for the RTHK Radio 4 and has recitals at Hong Kong City Hall and St. John’s Cathedral. He has performed solo at the Hong Kong City Hall, Hong Kong Cultural Centre, the University of Hong Kong, the Chinese University of Hong Kong and Hong Kong Baptist University.
From 2009 to 2019, for 11 consecutive years, Chau has been the recipient of the Outstanding Teacher Award in Violin Solo from the China Artist Association. His students have been prize-winners of the “Jungend Musiziert” in Germany, Italy-Hong Kong International Music Competition, Oskar Rieding International Competition in Slovenia, Japan-Hong Kong International Music Competition, Youth Arts Festival in Beijing, Hong Kong International Music Festival as well as the Schools Music Festival in Hong Kong. Students were also invited for solo performances in Italy, Germany, New York, Slovenia, Beijing and Hong Kong.
As an orchestra conductor, his orchestras have won various prizes and performed in “Un Viaggio Musicale in Italia” in Parma, Italy. In 2016, Chau became the guest conductor of Opera Passion IV, presented by the Opera Society of Hong Kong and Bellissima Italia Festival.
Faculty member of Casalmaggiore International Music Festival (Italy) since 2017.
